In early October a mixture of fabricators, customers and suppliers were invited to attend the inaugural SupaLite Golf Event.
The golf day took place at Ashton & Lea golf course in Preston on an unusually sunny morning. Guests began to arrive around 9am to tea, coffee and bacon butties, mingling and chatting with some trying to justify their handicap!!
Jimmy Casby, SupaLite’s Sales Manager, opened the event with a glorious drive down the first par 4.
The scoring was to be ‘Stableford’ so every chance of a prize for all with 3 x nearest pins and 2 x longest drive comps.
The par 3 sixth saw a great shot from Christian Sandforth of ‘Sandforth Warm Roofs’ landing his ball on the green to leave a 20ft putt but winning the ‘nearest pin’ The following group saw Mick Bowden of Premier Frames’ produce an even better stroke to roll towards the hole. However a slope allowed the ball to run off the green by a ‘full inch’ So although Mick was only 10 ft from the hole Christian went on to collect the sixth hole prize and Mick sulking for the next hour!!!
The weather was fantastic and a really enjoyable day all round especially with the ‘drinks’ buggy ensuring no-one went thirsty!!
- Winner: Nigel Attoe
- Runner Up: Jimmy Casby
- Nearest pins: Christian Sandforth (6th and 11th); Mark Lightfoot of Carlisle Windows (2nd)
- Longest drives: Nigel Attoe (check that handicap!!)
A rather tipsy night out in Preston followed. 🙂
We all look forward to the next ‘Supalite Golf Event’ and hope Nigel is back to defend his trophy. (The handicapper will ensure it won’t be quite as easy next time) Haha.
